A bit like Marmite, Haggis evokes the ‘love it or loathe it’ response, there are no maybes. The ‘loathe its’ simply squirm at Rabbie Burns’ enthusiasm; “trenching your gushing entrails bright…” doesn’t seem to cut it with many! If you love it (and yes, I am a fan), go for it. If not, there is usually a vegetarian option available which doesn’t involve any animal bits and bobs. This rich combo of vegetables, beans, lentils, herbs, spices and oats ticks a mass of nutritionally-great boxes but remember, the Scottish Larder is bursting with fabulous fish, shellfish and game and who knows, if Rabbie was around today he may well feel moved to scribe a wee poem entitled Tae a Trout! What you are planning for the 25th?
